Instead of just working my normal morning shifts I have been working full days this week because Joan was sick. I didn’t mind too much though, because I enjoy working and in the afternoon there are a couple of groups with kids to teach. Because I have worked four full days Russell has given me Friday off which is nice of him. I wouldn’t have minded working another day though.
After work I went into town to do some shopping. Lee and his friend Pete were at the supermarket as well buying some meat. Apparently they were having their monthly BBQ and after chatting a bit they invited me to come as well. I wasn’t too sure about going, because I didn’t want to mess up their boys night, but they insisted because Pete wanted to get to know me a bit better.
So later on I went over to Lee’s house and brought some self-made salads. Pete is Lee’s best friend since childhood. They grew up together and they still hang out on a regular basis. He’s a nice guy with a great sense of humor. When I came in he said: “So, you are Lee’s new hot girlfriend?” Of course I said No. “New friend? Yes. New girlfriend? No“. I should have known that Lee’s little stalker friend had been spreading rumors about me. Pete laughed about it and said it was a shame I wasn’t his girlfriend because he reckoned Lee could do with a new girlfriend. “Okay… new subject please?”
I’d let the guys do all the cooking on the BBQ (because I think that is a man’s job), while I dished out all the plates, salads, etc. It was really nice to get to know Pete. I had seen him before in the gym, but never really had the chance to talk to him. He is the opposite of Lee. Lee can be really quiet when he meets new people, but Pete just talks and talks and talks. He had some funny stories to tell about Lee and him. The food was delicious and the conversations were great. Before I knew it it was already midnight. After helping cleaning up I went home around one o’clock in the morning. Good thing I don’t have to work on Friday!
