Before I even had the chance to quietly eat my breakfast on my balcony this morning I heard the door bell. It was Pete and he had a big grin on his face. The first thing he said was: “So? ” And I responded with: “So what?” “I want to hear all about what happened between you and Lee last night!” I started to laugh, but said I wouldn’t tell unless he told me first what he thought of Annie and what had happened between the two of them because they seemed to like each other.
So Pete started to tell me that when Lee and I had gone for a walk they had chatted about a lot of stuff. They had been to school together, but she was a bit chubby and he’d never paid any attention to her. Now (years later) that she had lost the weight he thought she looked great. She was a nice girl and when he’d brought her home last night he’d given her a kiss on the cheek. And… they’re going on a date tonight! His eyes just completely lit up when he was telling me all this. And I was happy to hear that our little plan had worked out great.
After he was finished talking he said: “And now I want to hear your story and don’t you dare to leave out any details!” So I told Pete that we walked for ages until we sat down to watch the sunset. Had a long talk about all sorts of stuff and walked back again. “That’s it? ” Pete could not believe it. “Surely you guys must have done more than just talk?” I couldn’t help but laugh, but Pete didn’t think it was funny at all. “Gosh, woman! When are you gonna realize that you two belong together?” So I told Pete that Lee and I were together, just not in the way he wants us to be. “You two are hopeless you know that? And if you will excuse me… I’m going over to Lee’s house to tell him that too!”
Lee and I had a big laugh about it in the afternoon. We went to the swimming pool for another swimming lesson for Dakota and Cordell. I absolutely love those two kids. Every time I see them they come and give me a big hug and tell me all sorts of stories. Sometimes I wish I had kids of my own, but I don’t know if that will ever happen. That’s probably why I love teaching kids to swim so much.
Dakota is doing extremely well. He’s a bit older and learns much easier. He can swim every stroke now; I am just correcting it and making it technically better. Cordell is doing good too; it takes him a little bit longer to learn, but he’s only four years old. He’s an intelligent little kid though and learns faster than an average four year old. I am so proud of both of them.
After the lesson we played some games in the water before heading home. Dakota and Cordell asked their dad if I could please stay for dinner, so I stayed. Lee cooked up a delicious pasta and all four of us helped in the kitchen. It was so much fun! After dinner I decided to go home so Lee could spend some time alone with his boys.
When I got home I decided to read my book in my hammock for a while before watching a chick flick. I was thought of Pete and Annie and how their date was going. It would be great if they would hook up together. Guess we’ll find out soon…
