Welcome to my blog and join me in this adventure of a life time!

Monday movie night

Monday morning it was back to work again. I’m always looking forward to going back to work and hearing what my colleague Mark has been up to in the weekend. Mark is such a lovely guy and has always funny stories to tell about his ‘nerdy’ friend. Every week he has another story to tell about how he’s trying to teach his friends how to hit on girls. It’s hilarious, especially since the girls always end up hitting on Mark instead.

I love my mornings at work. I start off with the adult squad group. The group has really made progress in the last couple of weeks and the people are getting more and more enthusiastic. Some swimmers even bring new people to squad training so they can try it out as well. The group has been growing a lot lately. After the adult squad I have a group of kids for swimming lessons and then the pool is open to recreational swimmers for another 2 hours. At 10 am we have the aqua-aerobics group that is filled with older ladies, two older men and a few younger women. When that group is finished the pool opens up again for recreational swimming until the swimming lessons in the afternoon.

Pete on a mission

Another Saturday has gone by. Instead of sleeping in like most people do on Saturday I jumped out of bed pretty early. I felt like going to the waterhole to do my swimming laps. It felt like ages since I have been there and something is just drawing me to that lovely place. It is just so peaceful there and swimming up and down that waterhole simply clears and refreshes my mind.

In the afternoon it was back in the water, but this time for my weekly private swimming lessons with Dakota and Cordell. I am so proud of those little guys. They are really fast learners and so eager to learn. Nothing makes my day more than to bring over my knowledge to people who are willing to learn and make such good progress. I could see that Lee was proud of his kids as well and it just made me feel good to see all of them have fun in the water.

After Lee had dropped me off at home I made myself a nice steak sandwich. I was ready for my usual movie night when the phone rang; it was Pete. We had a bit of a chat and I asked if he wanted to watch some movies with me, so he came over. It is always more fun to watch movies with other people around than by yourself.

Busy, busy

After my last weekend I had to go back to work. Joan was still sick so I have been taking over her shifts as well, which means I have been working long days. I don’t mind it too much, I love my work and it’s not like I got much else to do anyway. I just go to the gym in the evening.

This time Russell did not give me the day off on Friday, so I was glad when the weekend came along again. I slept in, did another swim lesson with Dakota and Cordell on Saturday, watched movies in the evening and spent most of Sunday on the beach with Pete. Fortunately Joan has come back to work on Monday so it’s back to my normal morning shifts this week.

Life is just rolling along at the moment. The only difference is that I have made another friend; Pete. Lately we’ve been hanging out with the three of us; Lee, Pete and me. I never thought that when I would make new friends here on the island that they would be male friends. But it comes in handy every now and then; I don’t have to worry too much about other guys hassling me or trying to hit on me.
