Wonderful night out

Please forgive me if I ramble on in this post but I am so excited and confused at the same time that I am almost tripping over my words to tell you what has happened. Remember that Lee told me on Wednesday to keep Friday night off, dress up and be ready at 6 am? Well, I had a wonderful night!

Of course I’d been constantly bugging him for more information; where are we going, are we going to a party, do I need to dress formal or informal, etc? He would not tell me a darn thing and I did not like it one bit. I guess I am one of those people that absolutely hate surprises. For two days it was all I could think about. Where on earth is he taking me to?

Before it was 6 pm I had changed my clothes a dozen times, because I didn’t know what to wear. On the phone (after ringing him again) Lee just told me to wear something beautiful. Gosh, guys can be such a help when it comes to fashion! I decided on a dress I really liked, but that I had not had the chance to wear before and on open shoes with a heel. Yes, imagine me on heels! I even put on make up for the first time in months.

At 6 pm sharp Lee knocked on the door and when I opened the door my jaw almost dropped. He was dressed up in a beautiful black blouse with grey stripe and stone-washed jeans. He looked very handsome and was wearing Hugo Boss perfume, I could smell it. Usually he just wears surf shorts and a t-shirt. He told me I looked very beautiful, which made me even blush behind my ears, but I replied he looked handsome too. I even said he smelled nice which made him grin.

Anyway, he still did not want to tell me where we were going. I thought it might have been a party somewhere in town, but that was not the case. We drove to the other side of the island until we came to the beach. I was a bit confused that we were at the beach, but turned out there was a restaurant there that I didn’t know about and what a restaurant that was! The restaurant was right on the beach and we had seats overlooking the ocean. It was magnificent.

Lee told me that he took me out for dinner because he wanted to thank me for all the swimming lessons. He knew I didn’t want anything in return so he decided to surprise me. He didn’t have to do it, but it was such a sweet thing to do. Looking out over the ocean, eating the best seafood ever, talking with Lee at a candlelight dinner while hearing the waves… It was so romantic! It would have been the perfect date, except this was my best friend that was sitting on the other side of the table.

After dinner I took off my heels (what a relieve that was) and we walked hand in hand on the beach for a little while. I felt so happy and I think some butterflies started to develop in my stomach, but I tried to push them away since he’s my best friend. After a while we walked back and got back in the car. In the car we both didn’t say much. When Lee walked me back to my door I thanked him and told him I had a wonderful night. I invited him in for a drink, but he said no. I was a little bit disappointed, because I just didn’t want the night to end. But when Lee said goodnight, he leaned over and gave me a little kiss on my lips. Is it normal for your best friend to kiss you on the lips?
