Today I am having a dull headache. Not from drinking or anything, probably just from thinking too much. The house warming party was not what I expected at all. It started out pretty good. The guys all seem to get along with Mark and his friend Nick just fine.
The four guys were playing a ball game on the beach while Annie and I were sitting on a towel watching them. Annie asked me why I had invited Mark and his friend. She seemed very unhappy about it. I told her that Mark was a good friend of mine and that I invited whoever I wanted to invite. She said to me: “That’s not very nice of you. As soon as you get in bed with Lee you go out and become ‘friends’ with another guy. What’s your next move? Cheat on Lee?” I thought that was a bit of a nasty comment, because it is so untrue. Mark and I could get along well as soon as I started working in the pool, but we never hang out together outside the pool. Lee thought it was a good idea to invite him so he could get to know him a bit better. I said to Annie that she was so wrong and tried to ignore her.
Then Annie asked me how I could afford to buy a second house with my salary. It looked like a normal question and I answered that it was from smart investments (which is true - Michael and I had invested it in properties). But somehow the answer didn’t satisfy her. She said to me: “Now, what’s the real story? Did you marry an old grandpa for his money? Surely a girl like you must have been married before.” Honestly I was shocked that she even dared to ask me something like that. I ignored her question and just walked away. That girl was really starting to piss me off with her attitude.
During the BBQ she seemed to act normal, but I guess she only did that because Pete was around. Mark and Lee both noticed that I wasn’t my happy self and asked what was going on. I didn’t want to get into it, because I didn’t want to spoil the party. The guys seemed to have such a good time. Later on Mark came to me and said “Let me guess? Annie??” I answered “Yes, but I don’t want to get into it.” Mark said he had to tell me something, but that he would wait until Monday at work. I don’t know what it is, but obviously he knows something that I don’t.
The rest of the evening I just ignored Annie as much as I could. Mark and Nick left around midnight. When they were gone I told the rest that I was tired and that I was going to bed. Lee went to bed as well, because he had to get up early again to pick up his boys. Annie and Pete were staying in the other bed room. When I told Lee about what Annie had said he didn’t say anything, but I knew that he was pretty angry about it. I don’t know what to do about the whole situation. Annie is Pete’s girlfriend and that’s pretty much the only reason why I put up with her at the moment. I am tired of her attitude though. She’s always complaining and some of her comments towards me are really out of line. What would you do?
